Two more murder arrests after boy, 14, shot dead
Two additional suspects detained in murder case after 14-year-old boy killed
A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot in Woolwich, south-east London, on Thursday at approximately 3:40 PM local time. The victim, Eghosa Ogbebor, succumbed to his injuries at the scene on Lord Warwick Street. Following the incident, the Metropolitan Police announced the arrest of two more individuals on Saturday, both suspected of murder. A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were taken into custody, while a 46-year-old man was also charged with aiding an offender.
Earlier on Friday, three others were detained in connection with the case—two teenagers aged 14 and 16, along with an 18-year-old man—but were released on bail. Det Ch Insp Lucie Card, leading the investigation, stated:
“Our team of detectives is actively pursuing leads to uncover the circumstances surrounding Eghosa’s death. Residents may have observed heightened police activity overnight as part of this effort. We recognize the impact of this tragedy, especially on the local community, and will maintain increased patrols in the area.”
The officer also encouraged anyone with relevant information or sightings of unusual behavior to reach out to authorities.
Police continue to investigate the shooting, which has sparked concern among Woolwich residents. The Met has not yet disclosed the motive behind the attack. Updates on the case will be provided as further details emerge.
