Trump issues expletive-laden threat to Iran over Hormuz Strait blockage
Trump Issues Expletive-Laden Ultimatum to Iran Over Hormuz Strait Closure
US President Donald Trump escalated tensions with Iran by posting a heated message on social media, warning of catastrophic consequences if Tehran did not clear the Strait of Hormuz for unrestricted shipping by Tuesday. The post included aggressive language, targeting Iran’s infrastructure with threats to destroy power plants and bridges. Despite the intensity of his statement, Trump expressed optimism to US media, suggesting there was a “good chance” of reaching a deal with Iran.
The warning followed the successful rescue of a second US fighter pilot who had been ejected during an attack on an F-15 aircraft over Iran. The pilot was recovered shortly after the incident, but the second crew member had to be located in a remote, hostile region. Both nations scrambled efforts to secure the remaining US serviceman, who was stranded in southwestern Iran.
Iran dismissed Trump’s threat as “helpless, nervous and stupid,” according to its military spokesperson, Gen Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi. He remarked that the US leader’s actions were “a sign of weakness,” adding that “the gates of hell will open” for Trump if the ultimatum was not met. The country had already halted normal transport through the vital waterway, causing global oil prices to surge and inflation fears to rise.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP”
Earlier in March, Trump had set a series of deadlines for Iran to reopen the strait. On Sunday, he reiterated the demand via his Truth Social platform, extending the deadline to Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time. The new threat came amid escalating hostilities, with Iran retaliating against US and Israeli air strikes by launching attacks on Gulf Arab allies.
Israel, meanwhile, continued its strikes on Iranian civilian infrastructure, including a recent attack on a petrochemical facility. Defense officials confirmed the nation was preparing to target more energy sites next week. In southwestern Iran, US-Israeli strikes also hit the Qasem Soleimani international airport. Iran, in turn, launched drones and missiles at Israeli and US Gulf allies, with a missile striking a residential building in Haifa and injuring four people.
Abu Dhabi reported fires at a Borouge petrochemical facility after debris from an Iranian missile fell there. Kuwait also noted significant damage to oil and petrochemical sites from Iranian drone strikes. Bahrain faced attacks on its industrial and fuel plants, underscoring the regional impact of the ongoing conflict.
