Dan Walker to appear at tribunal as ex co-host brings bullying claim

Ex Channel 5 News Co-Host Files Bullying Claim Against Dan Walker

Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije, a former co-host on Channel 5 News, is set to present her case at an employment tribunal, accusing Dan Walker of bullying during their time together on the show. The legal representatives of ITN and Paramount, Channel 5’s parent company, have also been named in the proceedings. According to The Mail on Sunday, the allegations include claims of sexism and misogyny.

“This claim, which is denied in full, will be addressed through the tribunal process,” stated an ITN spokesperson.

Vanderpuije, who previously worked on BBC Breakfast, left the network in 2024. She joined Walker on the Channel 5 News team in 2022. The trial, scheduled to commence in London on 20 April, is expected to span five weeks, as confirmed by her lawyer Jonathan Coad. Walker, known for his role on Strictly Come Dancing, has been approached for his response to the allegations.

The Mail on Sunday first reported the story, citing sources, and claims Walker denies the accusations. He reportedly has over 50 character witness statements to support his defense. A prior internal review of the claims against him did not substantiate any wrongdoing, with no misconduct identified. Vanderpuije’s legal team is now preparing for the tribunal, which will determine the validity of her assertions.
