Couple in Court Following 13-Year-Old Boy’s Fatal Crash
A 13-year-old boy, Noah Campbell, died in a collision involving a car, bike, and scooter in Flitwick, Bedfordshire, at 23:50 BST on Friday. The incident left two other teenage boys with severe injuries, requiring hospitalization. Jamie Fountain and Ellie Ireland, the couple involved, appeared in court charged with multiple offenses. Both were remanded in custody and will return to Luton Crown Court on 5 May.
Accident Details and Charges
The crash occurred in Flitwick, where Jamie Fountain, 24, was driving a BMW at the time. His girlfriend, Ellie Ireland, 23, was the passenger. Fountain faces charges including causing death by careless driving, exceeding the legal alcohol and drug limit, and two counts of serious injury by careless driving. He is also accused of failing to stop at the scene, not reporting the accident, and conspiring to obstruct justice. Ireland is charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
In a statement released by police, Noah’s family described him as a “fun, bright, handsome, athletic” boy who was “incredibly well-liked.”
Noah’s family, along with the families of both defendants, attended the court session. Police confirmed that one of the two injured teenagers remains in critical condition. The couple’s legal proceedings continue as they await trial at Luton Crown Court.
