Four killed in second Turkish school shooting in two days

A shooting at Ayser Calik Secondary School in Kahramanmaras has claimed at least four lives and left multiple others wounded, according to the local governor. The attack unfolded as the attacker entered two classrooms, reportedly armed with five guns and seven magazines. Turkish media indicated these weapons may have belonged to his father.

Following the incident, Kahramanmaras Governor Mukerrem Unluer stated that at least 20 people were injured, some in critical condition. The motive behind Wednesday’s attack remains unclear, prompting an ongoing investigation. The event follows a similar attack the previous day at another high school in the southern region, where an ex-student opened fire before taking his own life, injuring 16 people.

“The sound of gunfire was very intense,” said a reporter for Turkish broadcaster NTV. “There was panic in front of the school.” Footage from the scene captured crowds of people, some recording on mobile phones, while ambulances rushed away.
