Four Teens Arrested in Connection with Fatal Stabbing

A 16-year-old boy died in hospital after being stabbed in what authorities describe as a targeted attack. Cambridgeshire Police received the call shortly before 7:00 PM BST on Sunday, reporting an incident in Riseholme, a neighborhood near the Ortongate Shopping Centre in Peterborough.

St John’s Church School in Peterborough temporarily closed its doors due to a “serious incident” occurring close to its premises. In an email shared with the BBC, the school stated that police were “processing a site in proximity to the school,” prompting the closure.

Arrests and Charges

Four teenagers have been detained following the incident. Among them, a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man from Peterborough face murder charges. Two additional girls, aged 16 and 17, are accused of aiding the offender. The 16-year-old girl, also from March, was charged with possessing a sharp object.

The police have kept all suspects in custody for further investigation. A substantial cordon remains around the Ortongate Shopping Centre, with heightened patrols expected in the coming days.

“This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a young man,” said Det Ch Insp Richard Stott of the Beds, Cambs and Herts Major Crime Unit. “We are in contact with his family and keeping them updated. While we understand the death will be concerning for local people, we do not believe this was a random attack.”

Residents have been encouraged to reach out to the police with any information, especially those with home CCTV footage. A display of flowers has been left near the cordon, indicating community concern. The shopping centre operates as usual, though its rear car park is currently closed.

The school confirmed it would “continue to monitor the situation” and provide updates on when it will reopen. Authorities are working to ensure the community remains informed as the investigation progresses.
