Three-Month-Old Girl’s Death Linked to Suspected Dog Attack

Cleveland Police confirmed the death of a three-month-old infant following a suspected dog attack in Redcar. The incident occurred at an address on Hardale Grove, Dormanstown, shortly after 1:30 PM BST on Thursday. Armed officers were dispatched to the scene due to concerns for the child’s safety.

During the response, police eliminated two dogs—one on the street and another at the property. A 45-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of causing fatal injuries through a dangerously out-of-control dog. He has been granted conditional bail pending further investigation.

Authorities believe the infant succumbed to a dog bite. A 31-year-old woman sustained an arm injury and was hospitalized for treatment. Both canines were evaluated by a specialist officer, who concluded they were not of a restricted breed.

“We remain with the family’s thoughts during this tragic and distressing incident,” said Ch Supt Rachel Stockdale, leading local policing. “I want to take this opportunity to request that their privacy is respected during this difficult time.”

The police have urged anyone with information, including video footage, to come forward as the investigation continues. They will maintain a presence at the address until the case is resolved.
