Meghan and Prince Harry stayed in Kate and William’s favourite £3,000-a-night hotel suite on their quasi-royal tour of Jordan
During their recent visit to Jordan, Meghan and Prince Harry were accommodated in the same £3,000-per-night suite that Prince William and Kate once favored, according to new details.
Royal Ties to Jordan
Harry, following his estranged brother’s lead, selected the same favored room in the preferred hotel for his and Meghan’s brief visit to a nation deeply tied to his sibling’s interests. The Prince and Princess of Wales have frequently visited the hotel, with Kate having lived there as a child in the early 1980s while her father, Michael Middleton, worked as a British Airways flight dispatcher.
William maintains a close bond with Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan, a relationship solidified by attending Hussein’s wedding in Amman two years ago. This connection is further extended through King Charles, who shares a strong rapport with King Abdullah II, Hussein’s father.
‘I feel this friendship in the most personal of ways, as Jordan has always been part of my life,’ Charles remarked during a 2021 trip to Amman. ‘His Majesty King Hussein came to the throne in 1952, the same year as my dear mother, the Queen. They would be of great mutual support to each other through the decades ahead.’
Exclusive Suite Details
The luxurious Royal Suite at the St Regis hotel, known for its £3,000 nightly rate, is described as a ‘sanctuary of grandeur’ and ‘offers unparalleled space and comfort.’ It includes a full kitchen, microwave, Italian marble bathrooms, a living area, and an outdoor terrace. The living space alone spans 363sqm, with a balcony providing sweeping views of Amman’s skyline.
The hotel’s promotional description emphasizes its ‘timeless elegance with modern sophistication, crafts an atmosphere of true tranquillity, where every detail is celebrated.’ It’s highlighted as ‘rare one-of-a-kind design envelops you in luxury, making you feel like royalty while providing the prefect sanctuary for relaxation.’
Entourage and Stay
Alongside their stay, several additional rooms costing £300 per night were booked for their entourage, including bodyguard Chris Sanchez, US-based Chief of Staff Miranda Barbot, and advisor James Holt. The couple returned to Los Angeles via Heathrow on a British Airways flight after their 48-hour visit, which was organized by the World Health Organization.
A hotel source confirmed to the Daily Mail: ‘We are the best hotel in Jordan and all the VIPs stay here when they visit – Prince William stayed here a few years ago and now his brother was our guest in the same Royal Suite.’
